A few players Tuesday asked me about Leland Fuerstman's recent apology on the Web that mentioned me.

Well, trust me on this -- as apologies go, it was pretty lame. Seems like the only thing he is sorry for is embarrassing me. I was expecting something along the lines of how his accusations against me embezzling loads of money at the 2009 State Scholastic were totally without merit. I didn't see that mentioned.
However, that issue was looked at last year and Fuerstman was totally discredited. Read the findings yourself.
http://www.ncchess.org/html/Settlement.htmUnable to abide by these findings, Fuerstman bolted from the N.C. Chess Association. The best outcome I could hope for.
That's why I fully support the Executive Committee in its desire to keep Fuerstman out of the QCCA. The founders have endured a few years of public and behind-the-scnes bashing by Fuerstman. Somehow, asking the QCCA to roll out the "Welcome Mat" for its No. 1 critic seems odd. I'm pretty new to the QCCA, but I'm guessing the founders have some sense of ownership in what they created.
Maybe the EC should start an information campaign to show members what they have seen over the years. Some members seemed like they didn't know the issue well enough. This isn't about me and Leland. That's settled ... I won. But many other members and organizations have suffered public bashings recently. There's a reason many QCCA members are "former" Charlotte Chess Club members. Let's see what has transpired.
