Tuesday Night Update:

Round five of our 10 Rating Points Tonight 19!!! saw 28 players at the Asian Herald Library, and a few more folks on hand walking the aisles!

The stormy weather and flash flood warnings did not deter die-hards from arriving early at the QCCA last night to vote on an amendment to the Constitution prior to polishing off the fifth and final round of our 10 Rating Points Tonight #19.

Congratulations, a handshake, and fifty bucks, went to each Section winner: Jamie Mcgavran in the Open, Fabio Hurtado in the B/C Section, Kevin Blackwell in the D/E category, and John Peters in the Scholastics section. The tournament will be submitted for rating purposes to the USCF today.

Constitutional amendment lowering Executive Team member service time from two to ONE year and effective immediately, has passed 14-1 in favor. This means that this January we will have elections at the QCCA annual meeting.

We had 28 players competing and a handful on site to check out games and talk chess. Good to see Gil Holmes back at the QCCA and playing a round of chess. Gil moved to South Carolina after being a long time member of the QCCA and it is always a treat to see him.

Play in the NC Open Labor Day Weekend and support a large weekend tournament right here in our backyard. I am starting to hear rumors of big names that will be in attendance, along with all your QCCA buddies!

On a side note, I will be missing a number of Tuesday nights in the next few months because my son plays football and practices fall on Tuesday. It has been a great honor to serve the QCCA chess community as TD of Tuesday tourneys. I will be by sporadically and just wanted to inform club members! No worries though, we will continue to offer you the care-free, stress-free, chess-rich, orderly and friendly environment at the club that you deserve and that we should not take for granted!
